THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start SYMBOL OF LOVE (L Mxothwa) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) SWEETIE DARLING (S Khumalo) was stubborn loading. c) UNCONQUERABLE LADY (C Zackey) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates. d) VIRGIN RIVER (R Fourie) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h04) b) INDEBE MAYIBUYE (*G Dookhit) and BASINGSTOKE (MK Katjedi) were badly inconvenienced and had to steady when UNCONQUERABLE LADY (C Zackey) jumped outwards shortly after the start. c) UNCONQUERABLE LADY (C Zackey) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of SWEETIE DARLING (S Khumalo), which shifted inwards and then was directed out to obtain clear running at approximately the 200m. Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and was advised to react sooner when his mounts are shifting ground. d) VIRGIN RIVER (R Fourie), which shifted in away from the crop, made contact with the hindquarters of SWEETIE DARLING (S Khumalo), which shifted outwards at approximately the 100m. e) SWEETIE DARLING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised.
