THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	DOUBLE CAUSEWAY (C Murray) lost 1 length.
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) :
a)	As the start was effected GOOD OMEN (R A Venniker) was bumped by WILLIAM OF ORANGE (S Hlengwa) which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. 
b)	BELL OF ANGELUS (S Veale) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
c)	OWNER OF CREATION (*M Mbuto) hung in from the 200m.
d)	In view of the performance of STAMPEDE AHEAD (K de Melo) (3.25 lengths, 11/2 in the betting) which tired rapidly in the concluding stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
e)	Apprentice E J Muller (MR PLEASURE) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. 
f)	Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that he as the rider of HAMMERHEAD misused his crop by striking this colt more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey K Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R4000.
g)	DOUBLE CAUSEWAY (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (MM).
