THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start BLACKBERRY MALT (C Zackey) rolled out and made contact with the hindquarters of AHEAD OF THE FACTS (JP van der Merwe). b) CONGRESSMAN ((M Yeni), which was hanging out on the latter part of the turn, was allowed to shift outwards on entering the straight and made its run on the outside of the race course. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with BLACKBERRY MALT. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) HOLDING THUMBS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised. (ZM) e) AHEAD OF THE FACTS, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) Nil RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BLACKBERRY MALT - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected.
