Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LITTLE SUZIE (K de Melo) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SUKHUMVIT (P Mxoli) raced wide without cover in the early stages and was allowed to race around runners and into a prominent position approaching the 1000m. b) SWIATEK (JP van der Merwe) proved difficult to settle in the early stages and was hanging in from the 200m. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with RED PALACE, which gave ground quickly to the field from the 300m and was not persevered with in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) SUKHUMVIT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AG Laird was advised. (ZM) f) RAINBOW LORIKEET, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised. (SC) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) Nil RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RED PALACE - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected.
