THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MIKOTO (C Little) jumped outwards, losing one length. b) MISS SMILEY (C Orffer) and LITTLE NIMBUS (G Wright) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GIMME THE POWER (R Fourie) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) Jockey M Yeni reported that LOVE HER MADLY made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey A Fortune reported that he felt something amiss with SEVEN NO TRUMP, which showed a tendency to hang out in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride SEVEN NO TRUMP out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey A Fortune signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00. In determining penalty, the Stewards took into account that Jockey A Fortune had retained his finishing position. c) KUBU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
