THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KLEINZEE (C Orffer) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) PENTOLINA (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. c) AMERICAN BEAUTY (M Yeni) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 1200m AMERICAN BEAUTY (M Yeni), which pulled hard in the early stages, was steadied when close to the heels of QUEEN REGENT (JP van der Merwe), which shifted in. Jockey JP van der Merwe appeared before the Board and was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. b) At the 300m AMERICAN BEAUTY (M Yeni) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of RIKKITIKKITAVI (K de Melo) and close to the heels of ACT OF GRACE (G van Niekerk), which shifted out. Jockey G van Niekerk appeared before the Board and was advised to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion. c) PENTOLINA (R Fourie) rolled out and brushed HUNGA TONGA (A Fortune) at the finish. d) Jockey C Little reported that OMIKAMI changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey A Fortune reported that HUNGA TONGA did not stride out freely in running.
