Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NARTJIE (J P van der Merwe) was stubborn loading. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PAISLEY PARK proved reluctant to canter to the start. Trainer S G Tarry was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) After racing prominently, MY KINGDOM (D Schwarz) commenced to give ground to the field from the 200m. c) In view of the performance of PAISLEY PARK (R Fourie), (betting 15/10, distance 3,40 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer S G Tarry was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. d) After the riders had returned to weigh back in, Jockey M van Rensburg the rider of the 2nd placed horse EXPRESSFROMTHEUS lodged an Objection against the winner GOLDEN PHEASANT (S Khumalo) on the grounds of interference over the final 600m. The Objection Board, after hearing evidence from Jockey M van Rensburg and Jockey S Khumalo, formed the view that GOLDEN PHEASANT had been near the head of the field and that EXPRESSFROMTHEUS had been ridden forward from the 600m and despite being in close proximity to the heels of GOLDEN PHEASANT, Jockey van Rensburg (EXPRESSFROMTHEUS) had not secured the available run on the outside of GOLDEN PHEASANT which was hanging outwards and that Jockey van Rensburg had not had to stop his riding of this gelding. Furthermore, the margin of 0,50 lengths between these horses at the finish was considered by the Board in determining that the result had not been affected by the incident quoted by Jockey van Rensburg and that the Objection be overruled and the Judges result being allowed to stand. Jockey van Rensburg's deposit was refunded. Jockey Khumalo was reminded of his obligation to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. Race 6 contd. d) GOLDEN PHEASANT (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B/Y Botes / Vosloo advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PAISLEY PARK examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
