THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WILLOW GEM (K de Melo), CALL ME JANE (T Godden) and SHIMMERING (S Khumalo) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) At the 900m CAPTAIN'S PRIDE (*B Marx-Jacobson) was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between the inside running rail and the heels of CALL ME JANE (T Godden) which rolled in. b) At the 200m CAPTAIN'S PRIDE (*B Marx-Jacobson) was directed in away from the heels of CRAFTY CROFTY (*D Pillay) which rolled in. Thereafter CAPTAIN'S PRIDE (*B Marx-Jacobson) commenced to hang out. c) Jockey C Murray reported that MISS MUNROE did not stride out freely in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer M N Prinsloo will be asked to report back on the condition of this filly on return to stables. d) In view of the performance of CRAFTY CROFTY (*D Pillay) (4.35 lengths and 5/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) CAPTAIN'S PRIDE (*B Marx-Jacobson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
