The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race and due to Trainer F Greyling having difficulty fitting the tongue tie to PROM QUEEN which led to the late arrival of PROM QUEEN (S Khumalo) at the start. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAPPY FORTUNE (R A Venniker) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) PROM QUEEN (S Khumalo) failed to parade in front of the grandstand. Trainer F Greyling was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) YOUR LADYSHIP (S Hlengwa) and HAPPY FORTUNE (R A Venniker) over-raced in the early and middle stages, proving difficult to settle. c) Leaving the 700m HAPPY FORTUNE (R A Venniker) rolled out and thereafter, raced wide on the latter part of the turn and into the straight. d) MRSGLITTERSPARKLES (C Habib) hung in from the 300m. e) In view of the performance of YOUR LADYSHIP (S Hlengwa) (7.70 lengths, 25/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) The Board have adjourned to review Jockey S Khumalo's (PROM QUEEN) crop use in this race. g) PROM QUEEN (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
