THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHEEKY CRANBERRY (C Zackey) and MIDNIGHT MUSIC (MK Katjedi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h02) b) Permission was granted for SMASHING (X Ndlovu) and HOPE CHEST (S Khumalo) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) The start of this race was delayed due to the twenty-five-minute interval between races. d) CHEEKY CRANBERRY trailed the field throughout and Jockey C Zackey eased this filly out of the race at the 900m. Thereafter, Jockey C Zackey reported that CHEEKY CRANBERRY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) FIERY COUNTESS (C Habib) shifted out away from the crop from the 300m and was corrected at the 250m. f) An Inquiry will be held into Jockey S Khumalo's (HOPE CHEST) use of the crop. g) HAPPY WIVES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) BASINGSTOKE raced without blinkers. (declared 08h58 on 20251228) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CHEEKY CRANBERRY - examined post-race. Lame left hind pelvis. Rule 49.7 applied. A veterinary certificate and gallop are required prior to acceptance.
