THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHIRLWIND (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. b) PUSHING LIMITS (A Fortune) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 250m DIGBY (L Mxothwa) rolled out and had to be directed inwards away from the heels of CHAMPAGNE MAC (K de Melo). Thereafter, DIGBY (L Mxothwa) was hanging out until the finish. b) Jockey K de Melo was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales. Jockey K de Melo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R250,00. c) DIGBY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SW Humby was advised.
