THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO SCOTT'S GUARD (M K KATJEDI) BEING SUBJECT TO A LATE VETERINARY EXAMINATION AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEING SCRATCHED, AS WELL AS THE BREASTPLATE ON POMPEII SHIELD (D SCHWARZ) HAVING TO BE REPLACED. 

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	GO JOHNNY GO (R Munger) was slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride.
b)	ERROL FLYNN (K de Melo) was slow, losing one length.
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded.
b)	TIGER'S CAPTAIN (K Matsunyane) over-raced in the early stages. 
c)	SHOREYBOMBA (G Lerena) shifted in both ways away from the crop from the 300m. 
d)	Jockey C Habib reported that ARIZONA MAGIC made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 	
e)	ERROL FLYNN (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
