THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CARTAGENA (C Zackey) was stubborn loading. b) NUCLEAR FORCE (M Michel) and GOLD DE GRACE (P Mxoli) were slow, losing two lengths. c) FUSHIMI INARI (K Matsunyane) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Jockey C Murray was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of COPPER PLATE, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (15), which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Murray signed an Admission of Guilt, and a fine of R10,000 was imposed. c) In view of the performance of LAVA LAMP (*S Valjalo), (distance 9,00 lengths, betting 7/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey J Penny reported that MIZZEN SWORD took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) CARTAGENA (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H E Adamson advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) NUCLEAR FORCE was ridden by Jockey M Michel (declared 15 January 2026 at 08H04). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LAVA LAMP mild post-race distress. b) MIZZEN SWORD examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. c) STOP THE TRAFFIC abnormal respiratory noise. d) PARTY PUNCH scalp wound left hind.
