THE STARTER REPORTED: a) U S RANGER (R Fourie) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length. b) BLU CELESTE (M van Rensburg) jumped slow, losing two to three lengths. c) MASTER MTOTO (C Zackey) and ROCKING IN RIO (C Habib) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FYFIELD LEGEND (A Fortune) and SECRET ERUPTION (L Mxothwa) raced green. b) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that BLU CELESTE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer WGC Miller was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. c) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of FYFIELD LEGEND he misused his crop by striking FYFIELD LEGEND more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Fortune signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. d) MASTER MTOTO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised.
