Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING PRAWN (C Habib) spread its left front shoe while proceeding to the start, which was refitted at the start, causing a delay. The Veterinary Surgeon examined this gelding and passed him suitable to race. b) SMIDDYBURN was nervous in the stalls, reared, dislodged Jockey A Fortune and got its front legs over the side partition of the starting stalls. SMIDDYBURN was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a further delay. c) KING PRAWN (C Habib) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a further delay. d) ROYAL KINGDOM (R Fourie) was unruly, stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h29) b) Permission was granted for ROYAL KINGDOM (R Fourie) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) ROYAL KINGDOM (R Fourie) was hanging out from the 400m. d) ALL SYSTEMS GO (C Zackey) was hanging out from the 250m and was corrected shortly before the finish. e) BUFFALO BILL (W Agrella) shifted out away from the crop on two occasions between the 250m and the finish. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SMIDDYBURN (A Fortune), Assistant Trainer C Boyers was advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding KING PRAWN (C Habib), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 17/01/2026 to 23/01/2026, both days inclusive) KING PRAWN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. h) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on SMIDDYBURN, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey A Fortune signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. i) BUFFALO BILL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised.
