THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MOODY BLUE (G van Niekerk) and PARENTAL GUIDANCE (A Fortune) made contact leaving the stalls. b) GIMMEATHRILL (L Mxothwa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (16h12) b) MOODY BLUE (G van Niekerk) raced with its head up in the early stages. c) At approximately the 700m GIMMEATHRILL (L Mxothwa) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of MAJOR APOLLO (JP van der Merwe), which was carried in marginally by ALL ABOUT AL (C Zackey), which in turn was carried in by PARENTAL GUIDANCE (A Fortune), which rolled in. d) Leaving the 200m, MAJOR APOLLO (JP van der Merwe), which was held up for a run between FLYING SOUTH (M Yeni) and PARENTAL GUIDANCE (A Fortune), was directed outwards to obtain a clear run. e) GIMMEATHRILL (L Mxothwa) compounded in the straight. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey M Yeni (FLYING SOUTH) appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race. g) ALL ABOUT AL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
