THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO ELEGANTRIX (R MUNGER) PROVING STUBBORN LOADING. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ELEGANTRIX (R Munger) was stubborn loading. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer C Spies was advised (GT). b) MALIBU (P Mxoli) and JAZZ PIANIST (J R Syster) were slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) In view of the performance of ANCHORAGE (S Moodley), (distance 8,75 lengths, betting 28/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ELEGANTRIX, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 18 January 2026 to 24 January 2026. ELEGANTRIX may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Spies was advised. d) ELEGANTRIX (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer X Spies, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (MS). e) ONE FINE WINTER (C Habib), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SEASON'S GREETINGS raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 15 January 2026 at 07H30). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ANCHORAGE examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. b) ELEGANTRIX abnormal respiratory noise; fatigued. c) RIFLE QUEEN coughing post-race. d) MALIBU coughing post-race.
