THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LEIF ERIKSON (K de Melo) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay. b) The tongue tie on KEY BOARD (L Mxothwa) was re-fitted at the start, causing a further delay. c) KEY BOARD (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length. d) WALOYO YAMONI (R Piechulek) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h24) b) In view of the performances of WIZARDING WORLD (C Bantam) and KEY BOARD (L Mxothwa), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. c) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of PHANTOM MAN he misused his crop by striking PHANTOM MAN more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Fortune signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. d) WALOYO YAMONI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
