SHORTLY BEFORE THE START WAS EFFECTED, LIBECCIO (P MXOLI) IN STALL GATE 7 PRE-EMPTED THE START AND BROKE THROUGH THE FRONT GATES PREMATURELY. THIS RESULTED IN A FALSE START BEING CALLED. ALL RUNNERS WERE RESTRAINED BY THEIR RIDERS, RETURNED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON AND PASSED FIT TO RACE. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A false start was called after LIBECCIO (P Mxoli) pre-empted the start and broke through the front gates a fraction before the other starting stall gates opened. All runners were restrained by their Riders, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. b) SHEETS AND GOGGLES (S Moodley) was slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) At approximately the 200m, COMMANDER OF ALL (J Gates), which shifted out away from the crop, and LIBECCIO (P Mxoli), which shifted in away from the crop, came together and brushed. c) LIBECCIO (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee P Jevu, acting on behalf of Trainer T Zackey, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) SAIL THE SKY was ridden by Apprentice T Mayhew (declared 27 January 2026 at 13H04). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) DONDOYAKI raced without blinkers (declared 23 January 2026 at 08H04). b) ITSNOWORNEVER raced without blinkers (declared 26 January 2026 at 08H49).
