THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BABA JOSHUA (R A Venniker) lost 1 length. b) CAPTAIN LIGHTNING (S Hlengwa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) Shortly after the start DESERT DOG (N Patel) which rolled in, was brushed by MS GALORE (K de Melo) which was bumped out by DEE DEE'S DELIGHT (T Godden). b) LIGHT THE FIRE (C F Dicken) jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls. c) MS GALORE (K de Melo) hung in from the 250m. d) At the 150m DIRECTOR (S Veale) shifted out away from the crop. e) In the concluding stages DESERT DOG (N Patel) shifted out away from the crop. As a result, LIGHT THE FIRE (C F Dicken) which raced on the outside of DESERET DOG (N Patel), was steadied to avoid running onto the heels of DESERT DOG (N Patel) shortly after the finish line. f) Jockey N Patel reported that DESERT DOG did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) MS GALORE (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells was advised (MM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) CAPTAIN LIGHTNING raced fitted with a tongue tie (advised 24.01.2026/08h36). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) DESERT DOG : Lame left front. Suspended pending Veterinary Certificate. b) DIRECTOR : Post-race distress.
