Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROCK FALL (J P van der Merwe) was slow losing many lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ROCK FALL, this gelding has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 27 April 2022 to 3 May 2022. ROCK FALL may not be presented for repassing during this period. Stable Employee C Botha advised (LAS). b) Leaving the 400m, TAIKONAUT (G Lerena) which hung in from the 600m, had to switch out to avoid the heels of WITHOUT EQUAL (W Kennedy) which commenced to hang out. c) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking TAIKONAUT more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2500. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (15) and Jockey Lerena's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (4). d) TWIN STRIKE (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P F Matchett advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SONG TO THE SUN raced equipped with blinkers (declared 25 April 2022 at 09H41). b) ALWAYS IN COMMAND raced with a tongue tie on (declared 26 April 2022 at 07H29). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ROCK FALL brush wound left hind. b) SONG TO THE SUN brush wound left hind. SCRATCHED: a) SEATTLEGREENLIGHT coughing (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
