THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MOTOR CITY HITMAN (W Kennedy) and DUAL AT DAWN (K Matsunyane) were slow into stride. b) FUNKY MUSIC (R Munger) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Entering the turn at approximately the 1400m, MOTOR CITY HITMAN (W Kennedy) which was encouraged forward, had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of DUAL AT DAWN (K Matsunyane) and on the heels of LET THERE BE LIGHT (G Lerena). b) LETSDOIT (S Khumalo) hung out from the 300m. When taking into consideration this gelding's history with regards to hanging and covering unnecessary ground in its races, Trainer S Moffatt was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to ensure that this gelding improves its racing manners. c) Jockey G Lerena (LET THERE BE LIGHT) and Jockey K de Melo (CHYAVANA) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. d) ESCAPE ARTIST (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee S Mtwesi advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ESCAPE ARTIST raced equipped with blinkers (declared 26 April 2022 at 08H33). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LET THERE BE LIGHT coughing. b) CHYAVANA examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) LETSDOIT abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
