Stipes Report
DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, SPEED STORM BECAME FRACTIOUS AND REARED UP, LANDING IN THE ADJACENT STALL GATE. THIS RESULTED IN JOCKEY K DE MELO BECOMING DISLODGED. SPEED STORM WAS REMOVED FROM THE STALLS, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON AND WAS PASSED FIT TO RACE. JOCKEY K DE MELO WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE PARAMEDICS AND DEEMED NOT FIT TO RIDE IN THIS RACE. AS NO SUITABLE RIDER WAS AVAILABLE, SPEED STORM WAS SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, LONE HORIZON (*K J Lihaba) kicked the back gates on several occasions, resulting in SPEED STORM becoming restless, rearing in the stalls and dislodging Jockey K de Melo. Trainer W H Marwing was advised to reschool LONE HORIZON prior to his next engagement (GT). b) JAN FISKAAL (J R Syster) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) SKIZZLE DRUM (*B Marx-Jacobson) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) JAN FISKAAL (J R Syster) hung in throughout. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) WORLD ATTRACTION (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Matthew de Kock was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) JAN FISKAAL not striding out right hind. b) SKIZZLE DRUM brush wound left hind. c) WORLD ATTRACTION overreach right front.
