Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	EUPHRATES (M Michel) was slow, losing two lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded.
b)	MILITARY MOVES (M Yeni) over-raced in the early and middle stages and thereafter tired badly from the 400m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
c)	At approximately the 100m, BELLEROPHON (K Matsunyane) was bumped out by BATTLEGROUND (G Lerena), which was directed outwards and thereafter these horses came together and brushed on two occasions.
A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board, which was followed by an Objection being lodged by him on behalf of the 2nd placed horse, BELLEROPHON (K Matsunyane), against the 1st placed horse, BATTLEGROUND (G Lerena), on the grounds of intimidation and interference in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the evidence put forward, was of the opinion that the result had been affected by this incident and that BELLEROPHON would have finished ahead of BATTLEGROUND and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges' result to read:

1st	4 BELLEROPHON (K Matsunyane)
2nd	2 BATTLEGROUND (G Lerena)
	3rd	6 EUPHRATES (M Michel)
	4th	1 APACHE SON (J R Syster)
	5th	3 VESUVIO (P Mxoli)
	6th	5 MILITARY MOVES (M Yeni)

d)	BATTLEGROUND (G Lerena), placed second on objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (DR).
