Stipes Report
THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE, AS WELL AS ZIWEWERE (S KHUMALO) BREAKING THROUGH THE FRONT GATES AND BOLTING THE COURSE AND QUEEN OF FIRE (P MXOLI) EXITING THE STALLS. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ZIWEWERE (S Khumalo) broke through the front gates and bolted. b) QUEEN OF FIRE (P Mxoli) exited the starting stalls, which opened for no apparent reason. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the loading process, ZIWEWERE broke through the front gates, dislodged Jockey S Khumalo and bolted the course. Thereafter, QUEEN OF FIRE (P Mxoli) exited the stalls when it opened for no apparent reason. This filly was restrained by Jockey P Mxoli, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. ZIWEWERE was taken in hand, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently scratched. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ZIWEWERE, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 21 February 2026 to 28 February 2026. ZIWEWERE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer D Swanson was advised. c) WHEREVERILAYMYHAT (M Thackeray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer T Mason advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ROYAL LYTHAM was ridden by Jockey J R Syster (declared 20 February 2026 at 09H26). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON HAD NO REPORTS. SCRATCHED: a) CHILI BOMB lame left front (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) ZIWEWERE bolted the course - immediate reinstatement (NHA). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
