Stipes Report
The start of this race was delayed due to the late arrival of the horses at the start and the riders have to check their equipment. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OH MY GUCCI GIRL (K de Melo) was stubborn to load. Lost 1 length. b) FATE DECREED (K Matsunyane) lost 1 length. c) MARY READ (*D Ramkhalawon) jumped with its head up and lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) IZIBULO (S Veale) over-raced in the early stages. c) Leaving the 200m SAINT BRIGID (S Moodley) which commenced to hang in, was steadied when awkwardly placed between OH MY GUCCI GIRL (K de Melo) and ANGEL OF MY HEART (C F Dicken). Shortly thereafter SAINT BRIGID (S Moodley) which continued to hang in, and PEGGY SUE SHAKE (*M Mbuto) which shifted out away from the crop, came together and bumped on two occasions which resulted in SAINT BRIGID (S Moodley) having to check and PEGGY SUE SHAKE (*M Mbuto) becoming unbalanced and having its hindquarters turned inwards. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey S Moodley on behalf of the third placed horse SAINT BRIGID, against the winner PEGGY SUE SHAKE (*M Mbuto), on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Board, after viewing the Patrol footage from all angles and hearing the evidence presented by all parties overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges' result to stand. In arriving at this decision, the Board took into account that SAINT BRIGID (S Moodley) had suffered a loss of momentum in the earlier incident and that in this instance, both horses had been impeded. The Board also considered the margin of 0.55 lengths between these horses at the finish and that there were movements from both horses in this instance. d) Apprentice M Mbuto was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of PEGGY SUE SHAKE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SAINT BRIGID (S Moodley) approaching the 100m. Apprentice M Mbuto signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days (Dates to be advised). e) At the 150m ANGEL OF MY HEART (C F Dicken) was switched in away from the heels of PEGGY SUE SHAKE (*M Mbuto), which rolled out. f) Apprentice D Ramkhalawon (MARY READ) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. g) PEGGY SUE SHAKE (*M Mbuto), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W M Masawi was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) LIMERICK LACE raced without a tongue tie (advised 22.02.2026/09h18). b) Jockey K de Melo (OH MY GUCCI GIRL) weighed out at 55.0kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
