Stipes Report

During the loading process THISISWHATITMEANS (S Veale) became restless in the stalls. This gelding was released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the start of this race.

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	THISISWHATITMEANS (S Veale) reared once during the loading process. This gelding was released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. 
b)	AGRADO (C Habib) jumped awkwardly outwards, making contact with the left-side front gate, and as a result lost 4 lengths and was thereafter slow into stride.  
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) :
a)	All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b)	The Stewards called a Race Review into the start of this Race. After viewing the Patrol footage of the start and interviewing Jockey Habib and the Starters, it could not be proven conclusively as to what had transpired other than  that, as the start was effected AGRADO (C Habib) had jumped awkwardly with three of its legs grounded, made contact with the left-front gate and lost ground to the field. The Board attributed the subsequent loss of ground to horse behaviour alone and therefore took no further action. Due to this loss of ground and momentum at the start AGRADO (C Habib) was unable to make up the deficit and raced detached from the field throughout. 
c)	Approaching the 150m SOHO STAR (*D Pillay) was brushed out on two occasions by THISISWHATITMEANS (S Veale) which improved into a tight available run between SOHO STAR (*D Pillay) and GIMMETHEGOODLIFE (S Moodley) which had shifted out marginally. Thereafter THISISWHATITMEANS (S Veale) commenced to shift out away from the crop.
d)	In view of the performance of AFRICAN SKYLINE (C Murray) (7.30 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e)	GOOD TRAVELLER (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (MM).
