THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SOMMERSTERN (C Little), UNITED FRONT (S Veale) and PRAIRIE DAWN (R Fourie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h50) b) IN A TIMELY MANNER (JP van der Merwe) proved difficult to settle while attempting to get cover behind CAPTAINS ALLIANCE (C Orffer) in the early stages. c) At the 300m SOMMERSTERN (C Little) was directed inwards away from the heels of CAPTAINS ALLIANCE (C Orffer), which shifted out slightly. d) At the 200m RED DAWN (A Domeyer) was steadied briefly when tightened for room between FAST AND FREE (*DD Louw) and PRAIRIE DAWN (R Fourie), which was directed out and into clear running. e) Jockey K de Melo reported that DELTA PRIDE choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) IN A TIMELY MANNER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
