THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h25) b) KUBU (C Zackey) took an extended stride in the early stages. c) Approaching the 1200m UKUDUMA (K de Melo) was carried outwards by WOMAN IN GOLD (C Little) which raced onto the heels of QUEEN REGENT (JP van der Merwe) and shifted out. As a consequence, UKUDUMA (K de Melo) was steadied and taken back in behind runners. d) Jockey C Little reported that he felt something amiss with WOMAN IN GOLD. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey K de Melo reported that UKUDUMA did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) BEACH VERSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised.
