EN ROUTE TO THE START, GUNBOAT (J PENNY) PULLED ITS LEFT HIND SHOE WHICH COULD NOT BE REPLACED BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THE COURSE FARRIER WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE RIGHT HIND SHOE AND AS A RESULT, THIS GELDING WAS SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SCORPIO (*T Mayhew) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) WISH YOU WERE HERE (*K J Lihaba) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Following the running of Race 3, a number of Riders raised concerns regarding a patch at approximately the 100m in close proximity to the outside running rail. It was agreed that as it was a small field the starting stalls would be positioned as close to inside as possible in an attempt to alleviate this issue. c) Apprentice K J Lihaba, the rider of WISH YOU WERE HERE, accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. d) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that SCORPIO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Trainer W H Marwing was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate WISH YOU WERE HERE against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer W H Marwing signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. f) SLENDER SILHOUETTE (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee S Mtwesi, acting on behalf of Trainer S G Tarry, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ISAAC STEPHAN was ridden by Jockey M van Rensburg (declared 13 March 2026 at 15H09). b) SCORPIO was ridden by Apprentice T Mayhew (declared 14 March 2026 at 08H01). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ISAAC STEPHAN is a gelding (gelded 10 December 2025). Incorrectly carded. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SCORPIO mouth injury. b) HAMMER BLOW abnormal respiratory noise.
