THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LOVERS LANE (O Noach) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h27) b) AVIGNON (G Wright) proved difficult, failed to parade in front of the grandstand and proceeded directly to the start. Trainer PAW Botha was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended. c) In view of the performance of AVIGNON (G Wright), which raced wide on the turn, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) KLEIN KAROO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer MH Maingard was advised. (SC) e) DEVIL A SAINT, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D McLachlan was advised.
