Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ZIP CODE (*D Louw) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) At approximately the 400m, HAT AND HEELS broke down and was eased out of the race by Apprentice D Pillay. As a result, KAMBATI (*B Marx-Jacobson) and PEPPER TREE (*K J Lihaba) had to take evasive action to avoid the broken-down horse. c) Apprentice B Soodoo (SPACE MISSION) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride on SPACE MISSION in the concluding stages. Apprentice B Soodoo explained to the Board that he misjudged the finish line and once he realised this, he carried on riding his mount. Apprentice B Soodoo was strongly advised to familiarise himself with the racecourses he is riding at. d) KAMBATI (*B Marx-Jacobson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C J Lensley was advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HAT AND HEELS fractured right hind pastern and cannon. Humanely euthanased. Specimens collected for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MB). b) BRAVE VIKING blowing post-race.
