THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TEAM GOLD (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TEAM GOLD (M Yeni), WHAFEEF (R Danielson) and LITIGATION (G Lerena) raced in close quarters on the inside running rail from the 500m. At approximately the 300m, TEAM GOLD (M Yeni), which attempted to improve position into restricted galloping room on the inside of WHAFEEF (R Danielson), had to check after becoming unbalanced when brushed in by WHAFEEF (R Danielson), which in turn was carried in marginally by LITIGATION (G Lerena), which changed legs and rolled in. The Board, after reviewing this incident, was of the opinion that blame could not be apportioned to an individual rider and therefore took no further action. b) Apprentice K A Brewer, the rider of YOUCANTHURRYLOVE, accidentally dropped his crop at the 400m. c) CAPTAIN CHORUS (K Matsunyane) hung in from the 300m. d) In view of the performance of TEAM GOLD (M Yeni), (distance 8,65 lengths, betting 7/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) WHAFEEF (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
