THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VIVO PER LEI (G Wright) and SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE (R Fourie) were restless in the stalls. b) RAFFISH TREND (K de Melo) was restless in the stalls and stood awkwardly. c) PEACHES AND CREAM (S Veale) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h48) b) The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to RAFFISH TREND (K de Melo) in stall gate 8 and established that the front gates had failed to open timeously. As a consequence, RAFFISH TREND (K de Melo) lost ground at the start and was obliged to take up a position at the back of the field. The Stewards, acting in terms of Rule 61.5.10.1, declared RAFFISH TREND (K de Melo) a non-runner. c) VIVO PER LEI (G Wright) raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight. d) SOUTH OF FRANCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
