THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HEAVENLY PRINCE (C Orffer) got its head over into the adjacent stall and had to be corrected. b) BEER WITH THE BOYS (*B Plaatjies) was restless in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter, was slow into stride. c) RED STATE (*V Jodhee) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BACKINTHEFASTLANE (JP van der Merwe) took an awkward stride at the 1200m. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with ELEGANT NOBLE, which had raced prominently in the early stages, and he eased this gelding out of the race from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Apprentice EJ Muller (LANDSEER) briefly got his crop tangled in his reins at the 200m. d) In view of the performance of RED STATE (*V Jodhee), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) BACKINTHEFASTLANE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
