Stipes Report
SHORTLY BEFORE THE START WAS EFFECTED, CATFISH (*B MARX-JACOBSON) IN STALL GATE 5 PRE-EMPTED THE START AND BROKE THROUGH THE FRONT GATES PREMATURELY. THIS RESULTED IN A FALSE START BEING CALLED. ALL RUNNERS WERE RESTRAINED BY THEIR RIDERS, RETURNED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON AND PASSED FIT TO RACE, AND THE RELOADING PROCESS COULD BEGIN AGAIN. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KOVIL and STAGE ONE were restless in the stalls. b) WHATSDAMATTERWITHU jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) FASCINATOR jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. d) IMYOURHUCKLEBERRY was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) CATFISH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) KOVIL was ridden by Apprentice M Mbuto (declared 17 April 2026 at 06H59). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FASCINATOR fatigued. SCRATCHED: a) MFULATHELA insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) TWO TIGERS change of venue. Advised 23 April 2026 at 08H22. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
