DURING THE CANTER PAST, JOCKEY K DE MELO WAS DISLODGED FROM NIGHT SKIZZLE, WHICH BOLTED. THIS GELDING WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TAKEN IN HAND, LED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, AND PASSED FIT TO RACE. JOCKEY K DE MELO EXPRESSED THAT HE WAS NOT COMFORTABLE TO RIDE NIGHT SKIZZLE DUE TO TEMPERAMENT ISSUES. A REPLACEMENT RIDER WAS SOUGHT AND DISPATCHED TO THE START. THIS CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EVENING NEWS was slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) QUEVANO hung in from the 200m. c) In view of the performance of THE REASON, (distance 19,30 lengths, betting 14/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) QUEVANO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J A Soma was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ENDEARING PEACE was ridden by Jockey S Moodley (declared 9 May 2026 at 10H27). b) NIGHT SKIZZLE was ridden by Jockey D De Gouveia (declared 10 May 2026 at 12H18). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) THE REASON examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
