Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	VESSEL OF LIGHT was restless in the stalls as the start was effected and jumped slow, losing one length.
b)	LET'S CELEBRATE jumped slow, losing two lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	VULCAN ROCK recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer P Steyn was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. (12h30)
b)	The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to VESSEL OF LIGHT in stall gate 7 and established that this colt had become restless in the stalls as the start was effected and, as a consequence, Jockey JP van der Merwe had become unbalanced and VESSEL OF LIGHT was slow to begin. The Stewards were satisfied that any loss of ground was as a result of this colt's own behaviour and therefore took no further action.
Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that, in this incident, the bridle fitted to this colt had shifted sideways, and the bit had pulled though his mouth, placing him at disadvantage. This was confirmed by the Veterinarian.
c)	Shortly after the start, SILVER PROPHECY was squeezed between VULCAN ROCK and VESSEL OF LIGHT.
d)	NAVASNINE was hanging in from the 150m.
e)	Jockey C Orffer reported that ROMAN BEAUTY changed stride continually in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this filly.
f)	REEF RUNNER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (SC)
