Stipes Report
a) WHATWILLBEWILLBE was reluctant to load and had to be hooded, causing a delay. b) OH SO ONEDERFUL was restless in the stalls. c) MISTER ED was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h57) b) In a slow run race, PROTECTOR OF PEACE and HILTON HEADS raced awkwardly with their heads up in the early and middle stages and proved difficult to settle. c) OH SO ONEDERFUL raced wide in the early and middle stages and was allowed to race around runners and into a prominent position leaving the 800m. d) Jockey K Steyn appeared before the Board and he was advised not to use his crop when his mount is out of contention for a place. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding WHATWILLBEWILLBE, Trainer SJ Snaith will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. f) In view of the performances of PROTECTOR OF PEACE (JP van der Merwe) and HILTON HEADS (G Wright), the Veterinarian was requested to examine these geldings. g) CAESAR'S RANSOM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Steyn was advised. (TJ) h) OH SO ONEDERFUL, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY CHANGES: a) Nil. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) PROTECTOR OF PEACE - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. b) HILTON HEADS - examined post-race. Abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
