Race 8: SOUTH AFRICAN FILLIES SPRINT (Grade 1) brought to you by The Witness (For Fillies and Mares at Weight-For-Age)

The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race .

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	ELEGANTRIX refused to load. 
b)	SWEETIE DARLING and BUTTERCUP BABY were stubborn to load. 
c)	REGENERATION jumped awkwardly outwards and lost 2 lengths. 
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) :
a)	All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b)	JUST BE LEKKER hung in throughout. 
c)	At the 350m DOUBLE GRAND SLAM was eased when close to the heels of HIERARCHY which was directed to the outside of PERFECT MIRACLE to continue its run. 
d)	SWEETIE DARLING was briefly baulked for a clear run approaching the 150m.
e)	At the 150m MIA MOO was carried in by BUTTERCUP BABY which was brushed in by DOUBLE GRAND SLAM, which was directed to the inside of runners to continue its run.
f)	In the concluding stages HIERARCHY and WHISTLE THE TUNE came together and bumped on two occasions. 
g)	Jockey R Fourie reported that MIA MOO did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. 
h)	Jockey C Murray reported that he felt something amiss in the running with REGENERATION. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. 
i)	Jockey J P v'd Merwe reported that MAI SENSATION did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. 
j)	Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of HIERARCHY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DOUBLE GRAND SLAM when shifting out when insufficiently clear at the 350m. Jockey M Yeni signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days (Dates to be advised).
k)	In view of the Starter's report with regard to ELEGANTRIX, this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable on a race day with a companion. (Suspension dates: 24.05.2026 to the 30.05.2026). ELEGANTRIX may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Spies will be advised.
l)	ASIYE PHAMBILI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells was advised (SP).
m)	DOUBLE GRAND SLAM, placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson acting on behalf of Trainer J S Snaith was advised (DZ).
n)	PRINCESS OF GAUL, placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer  was advised (NS).
