THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LOVERS LANE (*J R Syster) broke through the front gate, dislodging the Rider and bolted. The starting stall certificate for this colt has been withdrawn. Trainer J J van Vuuren was advised (GT). b) PENDRAGON (J Greyling) and ROSE VELVET (K de Melo) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to LOVERS LANE (*J R Syster), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading with a companion. Suspension dates: 13 May 2022 to 19 May 2022. LOVERS LANE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer J J van Vuuren was advised. b) In view of the performance of ROSE VELVET (K de Melo), (distance 10,25 lengths, betting 9/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) TAIKONAUT (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
