Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HOPE IS POWER (J P van der Merwe) was slow losing five lengths. The Starting Stall Certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. b) TUSCAN WINTER (G Lerena) was restless in the stalls losing three lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stipendiary Board called a race review into the start with regards to TUSCAN WINTER in stall gate 8. It was established on reviewing the patrol films from the various angles that TUSCAN WINTER which had been restless in its barrier, had been impeded by the Handler allocated to him when he attempted to settle this gelding as the start was effected. In terms of Rule 61.5.10.2, this gelding was declared a non-starter. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to HOPE IS POWER, this gelding has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 20 May 2022 to 27 May 2022. HOPE IS POWER may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer C Binda advised (PHvdW). c) KAYLA'S CHAMP (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) XAVION is a gelding as declared, gelded 9 February 2022. b) DOCKOFTHEBAY raced without a tongue tie (declared 19 May 2022 at 08H47). c) HOPE IS POWER raced equipped with blinkers (declared 19 May 2022 at 08H31). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GRAPPLER choked up post race. b) FULL HOUSE abnormal respiratory noise. SCRATCHED: a) CAPTAIN MORISCO heat left front (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) TUSCAN WINTER non-starter in terms of Rule 61.5.10.2.
