THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	STORM COMMANDER (F Herholdt), ZIG ZAG (C Habib) and SUPER HANDSOME (K Minnie) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Runners and Riders were late leaving the parade ring due to the weather conditions, causing a slight delay.
b)	Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.
c)	MOON GAME (JP van der Merwe) shifted in away from the crop and had to be straightened leaving the 300m.
d)	Jockey L Mxothwa reported that he felt something amiss with WINGS OF FIRE and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e)	Jockey S Khathi reported TEOFILIA took no interest in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	The Clerk of Scales reported that all riders weighed in at between 1kg and 1.3kgs in excess of the weight at which they weighed out. The Stewards were satisfied that this was due to the weather conditions. 
g)	Apprentice Y Ramzan was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ATKINSON GRIMSHAW more than 12 times in the entire race. Apprentice Y Ramzan signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Apprentice Ramzan used his crop, the number of strikes (17) over the permissible level and this gelding's finishing position.
h)	ATKINSON GRIMSHAW, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
