Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	PRINCESS OF FIRE (*KA Brewer) was stubborn loading.
b)	PALO ALTO (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	MARMARA SEA (G Cheyne) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Steady rain continued to fall during this race.
b)	JACOB'S LADDER (L Mxothwa) shifted in away from the crop leaving the 50m and had to be straightened.
c)	The Clerk of Scales reported that all riders weighed in at between 1kg and 1.3kgs in excess of the weight at which they weighed out. The Stewards were satisfied that this was due to the weather conditions. 
d)	After riding in race 3, Jockey M van Rensburg sought permission from the Stewards to stand down from his 	remaining rides. He expressed his concerns about the standard of visibility in the previous race which in his 	opinion had deteriorated 	since the commencement of the race meeting. The Stewards after careful 	consideration acceded to Jockey van Rensburg's 	request even though in their opinion the standard of visibility 	did not threaten the continuation of the race meeting at this time. The Stewards however accepted that each 	rider has the right of choice when it comes to their personal safety and wellbeing. Jockey van Rensburg was 	replaced on his remaining engagements.
e)	JAEGER MOON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
f)	JACOB'S LADDER, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. (LM)
