Stipes Report

EN ROUTE TO THE START, MELECH (M YENI) LIFTED ITS LEFT FRONT SHOE WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE.

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	LUCKY LAD (R Fourie), TIME FO ORCHIDS (S Moodley), WINDS OF CHANGE (J P van der Merwe) and NO FILTER (D De Gouveia) were slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	In the concluding stages, WINDS OF CHANGE (J P van der Merwe) was carried out by WILLIAM ROBERTSON (R Munger), which shifted out away from the crop	and was straightened. 
An Objection was lodged by Trainer A Azzie, on behalf of the third-placed horse, WINDS OF CHANGE (J P van der Merwe), against the winner, WILLIAM ROBERTSON (R Munger), on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Board, after giving regard to the evidence presented by the relevant parties, the proximity of the incident to the finish line and the finishing distance of 0,50 a length between these two horses, could not be comfortably satisfied that the result had been affected by this incident, therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Trainer A Azzie's deposit was refunded. 
b)	Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with MOVER AND SHAKER in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 	
c)	In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning WILLIAM ROBERTSON, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer C Spies was advised. 	
d)	WILLIAM ROBERTSON (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

a)	MOVER AND SHAKER examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b)	WILLIAM ROBERTSON cast its right front shoe in running; unilateral epistaxis confirmed EIPH on scope, recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer C Spies advised (MB).
