Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	JASPERO (JP van der Merwe) was restless in the stalls and rocked the back gate.
b)	TAKE THE WORLD (*KA Brewer), FAT CIGAR (X Ndlovu), FLYING PEKAN (*K Strydom) and IMPERIOUS DUKE (W Kennedy) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start, SILVER CELEBRITY (C Habib) and IMPERIOUS DUKE (W Kennedy) bumped on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed between MAGARI (*Y Ramzan) and AUGUSTA GREEN (R Khathi).
b)	MHLABENI (M van Rensburg) over raced in the early and middle stages.
c)	Jockey E Webber reported that he felt something amiss with CASERO. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Jockey R Khathi reported AUGUSTA GREEN coughed post-race. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	CASERO (E Webber) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt)
f) 	In the concluding stages FLYING PEKAN (*K Strydom) was bumped in by IRISH RAIN (W Agrella) which rolled inwards from the 70m. An objection was lodged by Trainer Oosthuizen on behalf of the 2nd placed horse FLYING PEKAN (*K Strydom) against the winner IRISH RAIN (W Agrella) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Board, after reviewing the patrol film footage and hearing the evidence put forward by all relevant parties, was unanimous in their decision that IRISH RAIN (W Agrella) had come from behind FLYING PEKAN (*K Strydom) and in fact was sustaining a strong finish in going past FLYING PEKAN (*K Strydom) at the time of the incident. Furthermore, the Board was of the opinion that the result had not been affected by the incident and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judges result to stand. 


g)	The Board have adjourned to review Jockey W Agrella's riding of IRISH RAIN in the concluding stages.
h)	IRISH RAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC Miller was advised. (LM)
