Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODFATHER (J P van der Merwe) and PENDRAGON (J Greyling) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) MAGWINYA (C Habib) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, PENDRAGON (J Greyling) and RIVER PIRATE (S Khumalo) came together and bumped. b) Shortly after the start, GODFATHER (J P van der Merwe) and VARTACUS (M Yeni) came together and brushed. c) PENDRAGON (J Greyling) hung out from the 400m. d) Leaving the 200m, PINCH HIT (C Zackey) had to steady and switch in to avoid running onto the heels of RIVER PIRATE (S Khumalo) which shifted sharply both ways away from the crop when racing green. e) Shortly before the finish line, QUICK RUN (*S Sosibo) was brushed in by MUSCIAL KISS (*K A Brewer) which shifted in marginally away from the crop. f) When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the poor performance of PINCH HIT, Jockey C Zackey was at a loss to explain this gelding's performance versus that of his debut run on 12 May 2022. Trainer F Bronkhorst was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. g) MUSICAL KISS (*K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (MS). Trainer G J Maroun is to be questioned regarding the improved performance of MUSICAL KISS. h) QUICK RUN (*S Sosibo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S M Naidoo advised (RS). i) IN THE ETHER (N Klink), placed fourth, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MAGWINYA raced unshod (declared 28 May 2022 at 09H34). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PINCH HIT examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) RIVER PIRATE abrasion right hind and fatigued. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
