Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DEFINING MOMENT (K de Melo) was squeezed out shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being steadied to obtain cover from a wide draw, FLUID MOTION (D Ashby) commenced to over race, raced onto the heels of GIRLS GOT RHYTHM (C Orffer), was steadied, shifted out and, as a consequence, raced wide on the bend until leaving the 800m. b) ZIPPY OVER (R Fourie) and ISLAND BEAUTY (L Mxothwa) were tightened for galloping room on the inside of GEOMETRIC (K Steyn), which shifted in when receiving some pressure from PRINCESS LOUISA (J Jacobs), which was ridden forward from a wide draw to obtain a handy position. Jockeys K Steyn and J Jacobs appeared before the Board and were advised to give more room to runners on their inside in similar circumstances. c) Approaching the 400m SPARKLING CRYSTAL (C Zackey) was steadied away from the heels of SHORT SHARP SHOCK (O Noach), which commenced to give ground to the field quickly from the 600m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine SHORT SHARP SHOCK (O Noach). d) Leaving the 200m GIRLS GOT RHYTHM (C Orffer) shifted in sharply away from the crop and had to be straightened. e) SHORT SHARP SHOCK (O Noach) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) f) ZIPPY OVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
