THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OPENING CEREMONY (L Mxothwa) was stubborn loading and jumped outwards, losing two lengths. b) KING OF LUV (*K Strydom) and PSYCHEDELIC ERIC (R Fourie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) OPENING CEREMONY (L Mxothwa) raced green. b) Jockey M Yeni reported that INTO THE STORM changed stride in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey X Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GLOBAL MARK more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Ndlovu signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey Ndlovu used his crop and the number of strikes (14) over the permissible level. d) PAULLY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
