THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	WICCAN WARRIOR (C Habib) and SUNDANCE KID (S Khumalo) lost one length. 
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Shortly after the start, UNION SQUARE (R Fourie), HAYAT (G Wright) and EYE OF THE PROPHET (M Yeni) were carried out significantly by ROYAL SOVEREIGN (C Zackey) which hung out badly. Approaching the 1200m, BIG SLICK (R Khathi) and SUPERIOR FORCE (S Moodley) were carried out by ROYAL SOVEREIGN (C Zackey) which continued to hang out proving difficult to assist. In view of this report, the Stipendiary Board acting in terms of Rule 93.2.5, suspended ROYAL SOVEREIGN (C Zackey) indefinitely until such time as it proves tractable galloping around the turn on a race day with a companion. Trainer M Miller advised (RH). 
b)	Jockey S Moodley reported that the saddle slipped sideways on SUPERIOR FORCE in the running. This was confirmed by a licensed official.   
c)	Jockey J Gates reported that he felt something amiss with AZTEC WARRIOR in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.  
d)	Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse UNION SQUARE more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey R Fourie struck the horse UNION SQUARE, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
e)	COUSIN CASEY (G van Niekerk), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G S Kotzen advised (LB).
f)	SUNDANCE KID (S Khumalo), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (DZ).
